Transgender Woman Announces Congressional Bid

Democrat Misty K. Snow, the first transgender female to run for Senate in 2016, announced she is planning to run for Utah’s 2nd congressional district Wednesday.

Utah Sen. Mike Lee defeated Snow by a landslide, beating his opponent by a 41.1 percent margin. While Snow didn’t win a seat in the upper chamber in the largely red state, she is hoping she’ll have better luck on the House side.

Snow blasted the Trump administration’s handling of gay right, alleging the government has shown “nothing but hostility towards people of color and the LGBT community” over the course of the past few months.
